Has anyone grown this variety from seed? Is it difficult to germinate? Does it require any special treatment?
TIA

RE: Fuchsia procumbens from seed

I have grown procumbens from seed quite successfully. I think the fresher your seed the better luck you'll have. I sow my seed in a mixture of sifted Sunshine mix No. 4 and sterilized sand which has been moistened slightly. In my case I settle the mix in it's pot giving it a couple of sharp taps to settle the mix down in the pot, then gently push the tiny seeds into the mix not more than 1/8 of an inch. Keep the mix slightly moist but not soggy. The seed germinates between two weeks and a month. To stop the pots from drying out too quickly I keep my pots in a tray with a clear dome lid, if I see the mix starting to dry out I have a hand mister handy to give them a gentle spray of water when needed. After the seed has germinated mine come out from underneath the dome and are watered as needed with the mister until the seedlings have started to actively grow. Others may have different methods of doing this but this works for me.

Thanks. I'm not sure how fresh the seeds are but I've had very good results with other seeds from this individual so hopefully these will germinate.
