 o
pruning?

I've got a fuchsia ('pink marshmellow') that is looking pretty pathetic right now. It has only two branches that are showing any growth, and the new growth is at the tips of long branches. I'm considering pruning it back, but I really hesitate to chop off all of the leaves on the plant! It overwintered inside--which I know is not ideal, but I simply don't have any location that is cool enough but not freezing. (It gets *darn* cold here in the winter!) I've had good enough luck with a cool, bright windowsill with several plants. This particular plant was not well-treated over the summer, so it didn't go into winter in great shape.

Should I cut it back? Or not? (I'll certainly root what I cut off for insurance!)

thanks!
Elizabeth

RE: pruning?

Yes definitely cut it back Elizabeth to approximately four or five inches from soil level, this will encourage your plant to produce new growth all along the stems left, and yes use the tips for new cuttings.

Also give your plant new soil, don't feed until you see new growth - Hope this helps - Kath:)
