Fuchsia in Shade?

Will Fuchsia do well in shade location? I am thinking of putting it by the front door since there's nothing in that area. It needs something there. How tall will it get? Can I trim it to keep it smaller?

RE: Fuchsia in Shade?

Hi Stacey

There are probably over 15,00o varieties of fuchsia ranging from small bushes that will only reach 12 inches to varieties that will make a hardy 10 foot plus hedge. The choice is almost limitless, it is quite simply a case of ‘you pay your money and make your choice’.

It would be a good idea for you to have a look around your neighbourhood and see if anyone grows fuchsias and note the names of those which seem to grow the best. You then need to try to find those that you can purchase in your particular area or where you need to buy mail order.

To give you some idea of what varieties there are I have added this link it is a good site as it shows photographs of many of the varieties.

I hope you find what you are looking for and let us know how you get on

Thanks for the website. They all look beautiful. I am thinking of the tree type, not bush or shrub. The area I am thinking of putting it in has a small space and it needs a long trunk tree or something like that. It is a shade area.
