I just gought my first fuchsia at HD. I don't know the variety name but it looks like an umbrella shape with a projection that drops from the center. It is red on the outside and purple on the inside of the umbrella part and the projection is red. I live in Central Florida. Is this plant vialbe here. I don't see too many Floridians posting on this forum. Do I plant it in shade or sun and will it attract butterflies and hummingbirds? Thanks for the info and sorry for the poor description.

RE: new to fuchsias

Hi there,
There are many varieties of red and purple fuchsias :)
A little morning sun is ok, but it will grow and bloom better if it is in a position out of the hot pm sun.
If it's in a pot water in the mornings, keep moist but not soaking wet. Other fuchsia lovers in the US tell us that they do attract hummingbirds. Please come back if you have more questions - Kath :)
