Dont go organic in a pot. It dont work. To many variables. Search Al's 5.1.1 or even Gritty mix.

what fredman said. i have a few plants in my variation of 5-1-1 mix and so far its good. i have mine in sunshine growers mix#4 drains great and still hold enough moisture. i water a hanging basket every 4-6 days.

I use Sunshine #4 which is fairly good by itself, however I do add Geo Humus for water retention and I also add #4 grade Perlite for better aeriation. Once my new fuchsias are established (2 to 3 weeks after potting up) depending on size of pot I top dress with a pelletized lime to control the pH plus I top dress with a good all purpose granular type fertilizer monthly. Results are very good and consistant. I use same potting mix for containers and baskets. I am always looking for new or different varieties, would be glad to trade varieties as cuttings. Let me know what you have to trade.

Fuchsiaman; contact me thru PM; I have over 50 types/ciltivars of fuchsia, many hardy/very hardy including species.
