hi
what is the best type of potting mix for fuchsias?
I have heard many variations on what fuchsias like but what works well?

yes thats what fuchsias like but whats the mix? compost,sand.perlite ? or reg potting mix with coarse mix vermiculate ...trying to get an ideal recipie here thanks |

| Dont go organic in a pot. It dont work. To many variables. Search Al's 5.1.1 or even Gritty mix. |

| what fredman said. i have a few plants in my variation of 5-1-1 mix and so far its good. i have mine in sunshine growers mix#4 drains great and still hold enough moisture. i water a hanging basket every 4-6 days. |

| I use Sunshine #4 which is fairly good by itself, however I do add Geo Humus for water retention and I also add #4 grade Perlite for better aeriation. Once my new fuchsias are established (2 to 3 weeks after potting up) depending on size of pot I top dress with a pelletized lime to control the pH plus I top dress with a good all purpose granular type fertilizer monthly. Results are very good and consistant. I use same potting mix for containers and baskets. I am always looking for new or different varieties, would be glad to trade varieties as cuttings. Let me know what you have to trade. |
