Fushias are sick

Help, I brought back 15 young potted fushias from Oregon. They are about 6 inches high. The have developed a Black on the tips of the leaves and two of the plants have die all ready. I am removing the infected leaves that are curled and black tipped , been careful to remove the leaves. I am watering them only once every three days, I have inserted Miracle grow food sticks for food. The pots have holes in the bottom so there is good drainage. The potting soil is moist , not soaked. I potted them in potting soil from China which looks like a wood by product. Can anyone gie me a suggestion? At this rate they will all be dead in a week.

RE: Fushias are sick

Hi Bill,
Black on the tips of the leaves usually comes from overwatering, which once every three days like you are doing isn't overwatering, or it can come from being kept in damp conditions, how is the humidity there? and what are your max. day temps. and min. night temps?

Curling of the leaves usually comes from some kind of pest.

Don't feed if the plants are not healthy. If by 6 inches high you mean one long stem with side shoots along same, pinch out the growing tip, otherwise they will just keep going up and up.

They should be kept in good light, but not direct sunlight.
Kath :)
