How to care for new plants?

I have got 4 small plants(2-3 varieties) from Lowes last week.
Planted them in a hanging wooden basket.
I have kept it outside in partial sun.
It is sitting on the ground for now as the plants are small.
How should I care for them so that they develop good.
When is the right time to hang?

Pls advise. I got my last one killed in hot summers here in Seattle. Do not want this to happen this time. I luv fuchsias a lot...

Thanks,
-Saly

Feed them with a 10-10-10 fertilizer now. Then apply a time release fertilizer (Osmocoat) You can hang then now if you wish. BTW, here in WA we can keep them in full sun. They need water twice a day in the heat of summer. I use the plastic pots with an attached saucer so they get enough water. About once a week soak that wood in a bucket of water.
