Bringing baskets In at night

| I have a fushia basket with some different varieties of trailing fushias. It has been in the mid 40's at night the last few days and I left it out, and it seems quite happy, but it is going to get a little chillier at night this week so I was wondering at what temperature is it safe for me to leave the basket out at.
Also I was looking around on this board and right now the basket is in fairly full sun, getting light for around 8-9 hours a day, thought it would be more during the summer when the sun is higher. Do I need to find it a new home? It stays fairly cool however because there is lots of shade all around that spot.
I have never had a fushia basket before, I stick to growing food most of the time (my other baskets are all full of strawberries) but I thought I would try something new! |

| You don't list a locale so I can't comment on the sun/shade issue. If you live in the north, they can take sun all day as the sun sit lower in the sky and isn't as intense. Depending on varieties, most won't show any damage at 35F, and some can take a light freeze and recover with some leaf loss. As this is your first fuchsia; use the plant files on this site to get more info on specific cultivars |

| K, I', about 25 miles west of ya. I've had 15 fuchsia outside the last 2 nites with no damage. With the cloud cover moving in; temps won't drop too low right now and they should be OK. They don't really need shade up here as the sun is never intense. We have a great resource here for fuchsia: http://www.nwfuchsiasociety.com Enjoy! |
