Fuchsia Lady Boothby

I've fallen in love with this plant as grown by friends on another forum in the UK.But apparently it dislikes high heat and humidity, which is a perfect description of Summer weather in Washington, DC. Nevertheless, I've ordered one; any helpful hints in keeping it happy and flowering here? My soil is moderately acidic and a bit clayey. Would it do better in a large container? Any info in it would be most appreciated ......

RE: Fuchsia Lady Boothby

i live in north carolina and love fuchsia. keep your soil very moist-- and also, keep your plants in the shade when it gets to the really hot part of the summer. mine are all in hanging pots-- as i have the the trailing ones (as opposed to the more upright ones) so i can move it in and out of the sun depending on the weather. if you baby it, it will thrive in our warmer climates.
