Fuschia care differ per type?

| Hi...I just bought my first fuschia at walmart. Its full and appeared to be well grown at some point in its life. Now its droopy & allittle beat up, but lots of buds & faded flowers. FAQ didn't list the care, feeding & such. Is it different per type of fuschia? Tag didn't say what type of fuschia it was. I just need to know what to feed it & when to feed during summer season. I have it hanging on the northside of house, in part shade 1/2 the day & part sun 1/2 the day. Watered good when he came home, but assuming he needs food during blooming? Thanks! Tonia |

| Hello artzypants, I am guessing from your post that this was a trailing fuchsia in a hanging basket. I think you placed it in a good spot. Does it get morning sun and afternoon shade? That would be ideal. Water it well, but make sure that the soil is not waterlogged all the time. I would hold off fertilizing the plant right now until it has recovered some, once the leaves are full and supple again and the flowers look fresh, not droopy. I typically feed mine once every week to ten days, but I try to stay on the leaner side, using a little less than recommended on the fertilizer box (soluable stuff like Miracle Grow). Other than that, make sure you keep fading flowers pinched, so your plant keeps producing new buds. Have fun with the fuchsias and welcome to the club! :-) |
