i forgot one thing-
the plant is hanging up outside in front of my front door which faces north. it's not necessarily a filtered sun spot. could this also be the reason why it's wilted after one day? we have a thing in southern california called "may gray" and "june gloom" where it's never sunny for those months, it's just kind of gray and gloomy. this is why i thought it would be ok to hang the plant in that location, and because it faces north.
let me know what you guys think. i'm a novice. |

| You're pretty far south, and your temperatures are warm. You definitely want to make sure that your plant does not get a large amount of direct sun (if any at all). In theory, a north-facing location is probably better than a south-facing one. However, if there’s another spot where the plant might receive more shade, you might consider moving it. For the moment, leave it where it is. Fix the drainage first, and if that doesn’t help, then think about relocating the plant. |

| Julie, in my experience, fuchsias along the coast will do fine with almost any exposure except for a hot south or west wall as long as they have adequate water (you would be hard-pressed to overwater a fuchsia in a well-drained pot). Ryan |

| Fuschias like cool nights and humidity. Up here that is natural for us. In your area you can fool them by watering just after sunset with cold water, not ice-water but45 degree or so; misting will also help. |
