Posted by sugarcane Indiana (My Page) on

I have just bought a beautiful fuschia plant in a hanging basket. The blooms are double petaled.

I would like to know how to cultivate cuttings from this plant, so that I can have more plants next year.

Can I keep thsi present plant alive if I take it indoors for the winter?

Thank you fo ryour help.

RE: How to get cuttings

To take cutting; cut the stem just above a leaf, 4 - 6 inches long. Trim it to just below the lower set of leaves and remove those leaves. Dip in rooting hormone and place in a mix of sand/peat. Keep moist not soggy.

To overwinter; keep in an unheated garage; don't try to keep it growing by bringing into a heated area as fuschias need a period of dormacy.
