Fuchsia at Wal-M

I saw many hanging baskets of the earring fuchsia at Wal-M yesterday. Some were in poor condition...broken branches, etc. The worker said they were overwatered.

As I was wondering around, I stepped on a broken branch from a fuchsia...I picked it up and looked at it, it was freshly broken...so I put it in my basket and took it home.

I'm trying to root it...I read that it can root sitting in just water or should I use the usual method of soil/clear bag?

Hi Piksi,
Cut the branch (don't know how long it is) into 2 inch pieces. Cut with a sharp knife just below where you see leaves growing from the stem. Remove those leaves and put that end in water. You can plant it in soil, but it's more likely to root in water now as it has been detached for a while from the parent plant. - Kath:)
