On July 12, my Fuschia looked like this:

On the 22nd, it looked like this:

Is something wrong? I water it every other day and feed every two weeks, usually fish emulsion.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Did you just purchase this fuchsia? Or did you grow it from starts? What kind of pot is it in? I would say that normally a plant that large and blooming as profusly as that was, that the fish emulsion is not the right fertilizer. I don't have any in front of me but fish runs kind of 1-2-1 or some such.

I would think it would need more of a bloom type fertilizer. The P in NPK is phosphorus. The middle one. That is for feeding blooming plants. I just purchased some fertilizer today because my tomatoes and fuchsias were not producing the fruit and blooms I felt they should. It is 10-60-10. I didn't really want as high as 60 but I had been using 15-30-15 and this was the only thing they had higher than that. I just won't use as much.

Good luck. Jeanette

I've had this plant for about five years. I bought it in a 4-inch pot, and planted it in a half wine barrel. It gets morning sun only. Not that we've had much morning sun this summer. Our "June gloom" here in the Bay Area has extended into July. It usually clears up around noon; today it was 3:00 before we saw the sun.

I have some "bloom" fertilizer, I think it's 0-10-10. Perhaps I should try that? Also, should I pinch off all the dead blooms?

Thanks,
Michele

Yes Michele,
Always removing dying or dead flowers, otherwise your plant will use it's energy into producing fruits and seeds. Removing them will encourage your plant to continue flowering. You could also give it a light trim all over, this will also stimulate fresh growth, and with your climate it should flower again in approx. 1 month. Yes your 0-10-10 won't hurt it. - Kath:)

Kath,

Thanks! I wanted to trim it, but wasn't certain if I should.
I'll give it a trim, feed it some 0-10-10, and we'll see how it looks in a month. I've been photographing my garden every month this year, just for fun. I wish I had a photo of what this poor fuschia looked like after the roofers dropped a roll of roofing paper on it. Pretty sad. But it recovered.

Thanks again for your help.

Regards,
Michele
