my fuschia is dying help

Bought these 3 small fuschias from Lowes. The guy at Lowes said they would be great plants for a pond garden. He told me to just sit them in the water on the shelf and because they love to be wet, they would grow and flower like crazy. I was so excited, couldn't wait to see the magic. After about 3 days, one bloomed, but then they started to shrivel up and die. Help! I took them out of the water, I've fertilized them with general fertilizer, the dry pellet kind and sprayed them for diseases. How can I save them?

RE: my fuschia is dying help

I had to reread your post twice, I couldn't believe what I was reading. You were told "FUCHSIAS WERE POND PLANTS" are you sure the plants are Fuchsias? Fuchsias are not pond plants, Fuchsias don't like wet feet, more Fuchsias are killed by over watering then anything else.
Unfortunately by now your plants have probably bit the bullet. My guess if you take them out of their pots you will see if there are any roots at all they will be nothing more than brown mush. If any of the top growth is still viable you might be able to take some cuttings.
If I were you, I'd take your Fuchsias back to where you bought them, ask for replacements because of the wrong growing instructions you were given, or get a refund. Hope you still have your receipt. Unfortunately you were dealing with someone who knows absolutely nothing about Fuchsias. Good Luck.
