Fuchsia in winter...

| Hi, I know the ideal thing to do is cut back everything to main stems and short twigs, water a lot less often and keep them at around 40 F., but if I don't do all that, and just keep them with my other houseplants, will they die? Of course the 40 F. is the problem... a previous house had a cold cellar room, but this one doesn't and there really isn't anywhere that's even going to stay at 65 this year, but I'd like to keep them over (for bonsai) if possible. Thanks. |

Hi Lucy, If you don't cut them back, you will get a lot of long leggy growths and you really don't need that, especially if you're intending to keep them for bonsai. If you have no where cooler than 65f, then try to place them by a window that gets good daylight but not direct sunlight. Kath :) |

| Thank you Kath, and I agree with you about cutting back - I wasn't questioning that so much as I was wondering how much luck I'd need to keep them alive otherwise without cold conditions. |
