Mail Order Sources Disappearing?

Posted by marcindy z5b (My Page) on

I have been doing some research on mail order sources for Fuchsias in the U.S, but so far I found two sources, only one of which is currently selling (but without listing prices). There used to be a couple of online nurseries... What's going on? Bad economy? Dwindling interest in fuchsias?
Since there are no nurseries in my area that sell fuchsias I am totally reliant on mail order. What sources do you guys have and use?

probably a lot of the places that sell them just don't pay yahoo and google to put them higher on the search list

Fine Gardening magazine always has a few nurseries listed when they do articles. Most of them never even show up on web searches.

they did a fuchsia article not too long ago
they listed 3
heronswood.com
joycreek.com
monnierscountrygardens.com

Hey beaniebeagle - thanks for the tip about the Fine Gardening Magazine. I didn't even think about checking their sources section... Monniers is closing for good, actually today is their last day, but they have been sold out of fuchsias for a while now. Joy Creek and Heronswood both have a somewhat limited selection, but I am not complaining. The last one I am familiar with is Fuchsialady. She has a great selection, but she won't be able to ship anything until mid October due to a shoulder injury... It's crazy...
