Nowhere to overinter my fuchsias!!!

I know that proper overwintering of fuchsia entails keeping plants in a cool garage, or basement, but I have neither. Has anyone come up with an alternative? I have outdoor deck space under cover (or not) 10 feet from Lake Washington. Help!

Hi Marene

There are a number of ways to keep Fuchsias over winter, have a look at my link, the last part of this section regarding 'Burying Plants' should help or at least give you an alternative.

Tight....

Here is a link that might be useful: Over wintering Fuchsias

I just bring mine inside, prune once they're done blooming, remove and replace 1/3 or so of the dirt, and treat them like houseplants. They've been thriving for years--

elvis,
Do you bring your's inside like where it's warm, and where there is some light, or do you put them in a basement.
