We have just returned from a trip to Ireland and Wales where we saw some drop dead gorgeous fuchsias and would love to grow one here in West TX next summer. I seem to remember when we visited Buchart Gardens one year, one of the staff there telling me that there is one variety that handles heat well. Any suggestions and where to buy them??
Thanks so much.

Try Googling heat tolerant fuchsias.

Hi Roselin,
The triphylla type fuchsias are what you are looking for, 'Gartenmeister Bonstedt', 'Thalia', 'Mantilla', 'Trumpeter', 'Billy Green', 'Boliviana', etc. These have tubular flowers and hang in clusters.

See link below for mail order - Kath:)

Here is a link that might be useful: http://www.fuchsialand.com/
