Non-hardy Fuchsias, like Gartenmeister Bonstedt, are generally overwintered in a dormant leafless state in a frost free but cool location and brought back into growth with warmth and water in the spring. I don't know what the effect will be of keeping the plant growing all winter but I suspect it will exhaust it and leave it prey to pests. Is there really nowhere you can put it to overwinter? I leave mine until the first frost causes the leaves to drop then put them into a shed until the spring. At the moment they are still outdoors and flowering.

Unfortunately, our garage gets too cold in winter for them to survive.....I'm sure it gets below 25 degrees on really cold days. I guess I'll just see how they do. Thanks for the info.

They are starting to flower in winter? Hey, you are a fuschia genius. By all means keep them in growth all the year round. These guys grow all year round here in Brazil, though they only flower late spring to mid fall. Keep up the good work. The secret is to keep them in their comfort zone temperaturewise, which is 1- 25 deg C ie 32.1 deg - 77 deg F. Those are absolutes of course. - Ian.

This was also my first year to try F. Gartenmeister and what I did was remove all the leaves prune it down a bit maybe 6-8 inches and put it in my garage which has no lights, but I do have an inwall heater out there in which Im keeping at about 45 degrees. I also added mulch and hope that works. Will find out come spring.
