| Japanese honeysuckle is a very invasive plant in Georgia. I'm sure most people think that it would be closing the barn door after the horse has gotten out, but it is best not to plant it. I have it all in my woods and it is growing up my neighbors' trees; used to have a huge stand of it on my power box and surrounding shrubs but I took it out. I saw no evidence of deer munching on it (and they did eat the oakleaf hydrangea that I had just a few feet away from that large bunch). You can buy the native honeysuckle at most nurseries (it is called coral honeysuckle) like Pike's and Home Depot even. |

| I agree, but then I have it growing wild around the forest edge. I will suggest you plant a persimmon tree. I had no idea we had one outside the arena... the deer get it first! Let me see, they ate my neighbors entire garden.. (no fence) and then we haven't seen a scuppernog or muscadine or grape since they were planted... little opportunists! Good fence jumpers too! |
