Poppies: What Can You Tell Me?

What can you tell me about growing poppies in Georgia? I saw one variety called Poppy 'Hen & Chicks' that looks interesting. A variety called 'Bombast Rose,' has "5 inch fully double, peony-type" blooms in deep rose.

Here is a link that might be useful: Poppy 'Bombast Rose'

You need to plant the seeds in cooler weather, like November and they germinate really early (like late November) and bloom super early in the season and finish super early. Early spring flower here. I also get very poor germination rates some years.

I was told to sow these in January and will when the snow finally melts. Hoping for good results, but now GGG has me wondering.

I just planted some red poppy seeds and the back of the package said January and February. The first ones I planted in my rose garden reseeded and I gave bunches of seeds to my sister.
It may depend on the type of poppy???? The ones you posted are gorgeous. 500 seeds is a LOT lol!!!!!!!!!!
