Weather for 2009 winter

Hey - just for fun.... I asked this at the end of another question, then decided to make it official. Have any of you heard any predictions for weather this year? It has been pretty cold. And we've had a few flurries here in Marietta. My kids are dying for a snow or ice day to close school. What does the almanac say? Any old wives tales or nature observances that might indicate some weather for this year?

Nothing scientific here, but with all of the low pressure systems this winter, it would not surprise me if we had a blizzard in late Feb or early March like the one in '97(?). That is when we really get most of our frozen precip anyway, and the storms seem to be training this year.

I like to follow WSB radio's Meteorologist, Kirk Mellish. He has an interesting blog.
