I did the last 2 years and they annoyed me bigtime
the only thing 'giant' about them is their height and their thirst
they are like overly tall tomatillo plants with miniature fruit and so far not one ripened, they were tiny green, unedable marbles when frost hit and killed them
every branch that was not securely fastened to a tall fence bent and broke in any wind worth mentioning
the fruit will not continue to ripen after being picked like tomatoes do
so for me they were a waste for space, time, water ...
if you want to try go ahead, I'm out, I'll try my luck with goji's

I've grown these. Not the giant ones, but similar small ones: Aunt Molly. Delicious, water hogs and husk worms and some sort of animal loved them too. Got a bit. I would be more selective about planting them in the future, in containers (away from grubby paws) were they are automatically watered. The taste is outta this world!

I grew ground cherries which are in the same family. I too had difficulty getting any to ripen and they stayed small cause I didn't water enough for their thirsty needs I guess. They are toxic when green, so I wasn't feeling too confident about trying the ones I got. So I won't do it again.
