| Saw this in the Thursday AJC and wanted to pass it along to anyone looking to grow fruit. Love the name of the event. It's this Saturday from 9-12 on the Atlanta Food Bank property and is a joint venture of Georgia Organics and Atlanta Food Bank. Benefits the Atlanta Local Food initiative.
32 varieties of fruit including blueberries, blackberries, kiwis, pears, apples, plums, figs, pomegranite (I really want one but don't have anywhere to put it). And some experts will be around to give you planting advice.
For more info, here is the link:

There is a price list you can download on the website. Prices looked decent to me, $10 for a 2 yr blueberry bush. And it's a good cause.

Satellite, I think all the plants may be from Isons, since they are all listed as bare root. I don't know that Isons does cherries? I'm hopping to get a cherry from Johnson's this year. |

| That's where I got my two last year. Both died, I suppose from all the rain and direct sunlight, they just never took. Both Montmorency. They didn't di until a few months in, and their policy says something about needing to notify them within X period of time, by the time they were dead, we were beyond that .... I probably shouldn't have pressed them to send the trees in March. Ah, well.... I need to take a day off and drive up there one of these days. I'm still in the market for trying to find a Montmorency and a Stella. |

| I went to the sale at 11 AM and EVERYTHING was sold out! Someone did a great job advertising and I wouldn't be surprised if they did another one as it was so successful. Satellite- I visited Johnsons in late October... sunny skies, fall colors, ripe fragrant muscadines , great selection of plants... just leave time to hit a couple apple shops for apples and ciders... the perfect day. |

| I drove to Johnson's yesterday and picked up a 3yr Montmorency Cherry (7gal) for $48. Same place I got the previous two (1yr, bare root) that didn't make it through last season - I think they were shipped too close to breaking dormancy, and didn't have enough time to build any significant root system prior to bud break. My AU Rosa plums (2) did just fine, which went in the ground around 1st week of February. I also setup shipment for a Stella (1yr, bare root) which is supposed to arrive any day now, and will then be shipped to my door. So, hopefully I got everything I need. Just gotta get all my fig cuttings propogated (I'm going to have a lot of extras) and I'll be on my way. Yard is pretty much full at this point. |
