Do any of you folks who grow Luffa Gourd know any plants that can be planted nearby (companions)? Having trouble finding info on this with web searches... Hope GGG will chime in if she sees this post. http://www.botanicalinterests.com/products/view/1258/Gourd-Luffa-HEIRL OOM-Seeds Thanks, Stella

Luffa is in the cucumber family, so other great plants are corn, beans, radishes.. I read to keep tomatoes away which is wise since tomatoes and peppers did not do particularly well near luffa for me. Herbs do fine, I have a large patch of oregano around my luffa area.

I prefer growing them with air potatoes or dioscorea batatas because they seem to stay out of each other's way in the same trellis as dioscorea makes much smaller leaves.
Here is a link that might be useful: luffa with air potatoes

Just be careful if you decide to grow the air potatoes, cinnamon vines because they can be invasive. See- http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/south/msg0309165511207.html
