I think it must be hit and miss all the time. I've tried off and on for years and had varying amounts of success. Fall 2012, I planted both Bloomsdale and Hybrid 7 next to each other, and they both did well, but the hybrid 7 far out produced the Bloomsdale. Larger leaves, more savoying (crinkling), better rebound after being picked. It produced all the way up until I had to quit picking it in March or April.

Summer 2013 was so wet that I didn't get anything planted for the fall until it was too late. But of all the seed that I sowed in October, the Hybrid 7 spinach is the only one that grew at all. It's still there, albeit too small to pick. I hope it will keep growing and finally produce before it gets too warm.

I have no problem in the spring, but have not mastered fall planting. Too hot when there is sufficient daylight. Spring I just sow in the ground in late February. {{gwi:117759}}
