Here in Conyers there's a place called "Fieldstone" that sells rocks. In one section, they used to have a free rock pile and I've picked up some pretty cool-looking rocks from it for lining beds. It's been several years since I've been there, so I'd call first and see if they still have the free pile.

Construction sites may provide some rock. There is one near me that has a lot.

All over Buckhead sidewalks are going in and the rocks that they dig out are free for the taking.

Is that cheap enough?

we've got "miles" of stone raised-bed walls ... ALL of the rock was had for free from a local road construction project.

I want to find some to build a stone wall-not the precast, the real stuff (fieldstone etc). Anyone know where it can be had in the Savannah area?

I built a field stone wall last winter, and I had to buy the rock. It's not cheap! But it does look good.

if you live in Fulton County and have 'erosion problems' the county will check it out and if you need rock will deliver up to 55 ton of rock each year. I do believe I have around 165 ton from the county and 50 ton that i ended up buying to finish my project. That's a lot of rock!

I did find some cheap rock yesterday. My husband and I were scouting construction sites for the past few days in hopes of finding a place with a lot of rock and someone who would let us dig through it. We stopped in to Pike's over in Lawrenceville for something else and happened to find a great deal on some river rock (which is what I really wanted). I spent $100 and got about 800 lbs of rock. Seemed like a good deal..and I got what I wanted without digging through a ton of clay & mud. Thanks for everyone's tips.

i guess we were just lucky to find a stone source from a highway project - there's so much cut & fill involved with road construction, and they separate the rocks from excavated soils that will be used elsewhere on the project. the rock was lined-up along the edge of existing pavement, waiting to be hauled away. this project lasted for years.

anyone have any free fieldstone in the canton/ woodstock area? Need some to make a fire pit, and use to line vegetable garden, thanks :)
