I started many of my spring veggies on Sunday: Lettuce, asian greens, arrugula, cilantro, garden cress, endives & other chicories, brassicas, more onions...
And for ornamentals and perennial veggies, I winter sow (there's a forum for winter sowing on GW, and also wintersown.org) - I have at least 200 different perennials sown but for many that need cold treatments, it's a bit late for us for that. I start annuals and summer vegetables this way in about a week or two, depending on what the temperatures are looking like.
I don't use a light set up now, ever. This works great for me!
