cherry tree is fruiting...do I need to do anything?!

The Montmorency cherry tree i planted last spring has lots of fruit forming! I'm new to actually getting any fruit from anything...do I need to do something to prevent the birds eating all of the fruit? Does netting work? Do they eat only the ripe cherries, or will they start eating before they are ripe?

Also, do we get many cherry pests here? I've read about cherry fruit fly, but sounds like thats mainly up in the NW. Can anyone recommend any organic sprays if necessary for cherries?

I also have a plum tree...but looks like no plums this year. The blueberries look like they will produce though.

Looking forward to cherry pie :)
