Where: GA Perimeter College Native Plant Botanical Garden Directed by: Dr. George Sanko, GPC Professor Emeritus, GPCNPBG CEO, Lecturer. World traveler, Plant collector, Plant nut, Fern collector, Fern nut, etc., etc., etc. If you missed the walk and presentation on Wednesday, by John Little(GNPS) and Tom Patrick (GA DNR), here's another chance to see one of our most treasured and coveted Native plants in bloom. Georgia is host to 21(23?) species of Trillium, about half of the World's total number of species, including two of the three species on the Federal Endangered species list. Earlier announcements of today's featured walk stated that each participant would receive a free Trillium, but I now notice that has been removed from the website?

I didn't know about the walk, but had to work anyway. What a treat to stumble upon trilliums in the wild! My first encounter was 4 years ago this month, with T. catesbaei. Growing on a small bank along a little dirt road I spotted at least 20 plants in varying colors from almost white to almost red. Simply beautiful! Heres one of the larger plants from that first sighting on April 17, 2005........  |
