Not evergreen, but a favorite of mine is Lime Mound Spirea. The color is fabulous! Leafs out quite early.

I tried the choisya ternata (mexican orange blossom) twice. Killed it dead both times. It was in a sunny spot on the south side of the house. I believe our winters are just too cold for it to thrive. I was looking for fragrance and not foliage, so I went back with a Korean spice bush.
I bought the plants from a grower out of OR. Forest Farms maybe? Nice healthy plants.

Thank you GaMud! I will go with a different option then. I found an old post elsewhere on GW where someone mentioned the SE being too cold in winter too.

I might put in a variegated Abelia (Kaleidoscope perhaps). I have several Abelias already so was wanting something different, but they are pretty reliable for a flowering evergreen in full sun so that might be my best bet.

Rosie, thank you for the Spirea suggestion. I have other places where evergreen isnt so important, so I might add one of these there. I am quite liking the splash of lime thing!

Chamaecyparis mops/sungold may fit the bill. Select based on color at the nursery. I have waited for one to "yellow up" and match the others next to it but it is still much greener after 2 years.

I have a Mexican Orange (Choisya) purchased at least 10 years ago from Wilkerson Mill. Growing in pine shade, became a (beautiful) monster. Drought last year killed about 2/3 of it, but what's left looks great now.
