fish emulsion for my veggies

I have veg seedlings that are planted in compost from the city dump. I thought they were growing kind of slow, so I mixed up some fish emulsion and poured it over them this morning.

Was that a good idea? I think the compost I used to make that bed is very low-nutrient, so I thought it needed some added oomph.

Can't hurt. Fish emulsion is very gentle. You can also buy the dry fish granules and dig that in when you ammend your beds!

i have found that fish emulsion is just about the best fertilizer there is.amen

They still seem to be growing slowly. Am I just impatient? They've been up for two or three weeks but only a few have put out real leaves yet.

I've never growin vegees in this spot/climate/ soil. Just seems like in other gardens other places they got off to a stronger start.

It's cool out and they are focusing on setting root. Plants grow slower in cool soil than in warm. This week will warm up and the rain is such a natural fertilizer. HANG ON!!
