Great new everyone. I have RABBITS in my back yard!!!! Now the not so good news...

I have rabbits in my back yard.

Since my permanent garden isn't ready yet I've planted most of my food in those 6-pod topsy-turvey planter thingies. I do have one green squash plant in a planter, as well as my culinary herb garden. These are all just sitting on the ground.

I have a question for y'all. Will the rabbits bother my zucchini and / or herbs in the planters? Or do I need to move those to higher ground?

And, I've noticed that I've got a few places where ants have been burrowing in the ground. Is this anything to worry about? Are these fire ants - do we have those here in Georgia? I've been here only a few months so I'm not familiar with any of the local critters and plants and such.

Yes, fire ants are rampant here. I use an organic Green Light brand product (which i find hard to find here) that works well. I've tried pouring boiling water on them, but frankly, I don't want to cook my plant roots! You can also ask Duane if he has any suggestions for them.
In my veggie garden I get these HUGE red ants. They don't do anything but pile and annoy me. ANNOY ME!! :) And probably eat the underside of the wood on the boxes.

Rabbits eat EVERYTHING they can reach. So do snapping turtles. If you've got something to hoist your containers up on: eg. cement block etc. it will work fine.
