name that maple?

this isn't of great importance to me, but i am curious.

every year i have fun new stuff come up in the yard...i don't always know what it is, and i'm not always quick to pull out "wierdos", which often results in some great scores.

it's pretty clear these are maples, but i don't know what species.

it has a very, very distinct leaf which i think i saw on a maple in front of the store Domus in the Buckhead/Cheshire Bridge area.

anyone have any thoughts? i'm going to let these grow until they get up to ~8"-9" and transplant to pots. don't want to disturb them when they're this small.

Appears to be Japanese maple(Acer palmatum)

Look around for the mama ... there are so many cultivars and there could have been some hybridization involved as well - seedlings don't always come true.

Ok - that is the fun one, esh .... you see, for three years, the northern side of my house was "mulched" with leaves collected off the street from more yards than I can shake a stick at.

So, basically....I believe part of the reason I have so much crazy stuff come up in my beds over there is because I have inadvertently collected hundreds of species of seeds several square miles of SE Atlanta :D
