Flat lawn? sod coming soon

I suppose given unlimited talent and funds, I could get a lawn as flat as a golf tee box.

In fact, I would be happy with that result, but I suppose it is not likely.

I have 2 pallets of Zeon Zoysia being installed in a month.

My landscaper says he can make it really flat.

What is reasonable to expect him to be able to achieve?

And, what sort of things should I see him doing?

Do golf courses put down anything to make it so smooth under the grass like a screen or something?

The landscaper should grade it as smooth as possible before the sod goes down. What's equally important is that after the sod goes down, avoid walking on the sod for a few weeks.

You don't want it completely flat, that would be poor drainage.

I see a bocce ball court in your future. Zoysia would be great for that, I think.

The back yard is graded fairly smoothly. I suppose it is about as good as can be done by hand. What do golf courses do to get TeeBoxes so flat?
