 o
Own Root Roses?

I bought some older hybrid teas and am thinking about rooting some cuttings from them. Does anyone grow roses on their own roots? How well do they do in Georgia? Where can I find more info about propagating them? How do own root roses compare to those that have been grafted to root stock?

RE: Own Root Roses?

butterfly, I grow own root roses, but I don't root them myself. They grow slower than grafted roses, but in the long run are healthier. The advantage is that if the top of the rose is damaged, it will regrow with the scion, not the root stock.

The rose forum has a lot more info on rooting your own roses.
