Which grass is best?

I am in the process of figuring out what grasses will and will not grow in my yard.I bought the house 3 years ago and am now starting to get to the yard makeover. The yard is mostly clay. What I would like: a grass I don't have to mow that often or grows like crazy. My wife refuses to allow a grass that turns brown during the winter. I life about 20 miles N of Atlanta. I'm thinking I would like centipede?? Zoysia turns brown and is too expensive, so I know that is not an option.

I'm from Miami, so the only thing we every had to do to our yard was mow it, so please pardon my ignorance on this subject even though I have spent hours online researching. For every "this won't grow" I have found an opposing comment that it will.

My backyard(about .6 acre) is half full sun and half partial shade(high pine trees in Southern part of yard). The first pic is of grass that grows like crazy in the partial shade, but not so well in the full sun. I do not want this grass for the entire yard, grows like crazy. It seems to grow in clumps.

The 2nd pic is of the grass that grows mildly in the full sun. Is this the same as the first one?

The 3rd pic is actually of the grass that covers most of my front yard that is mostly shaded through the day by various trees. It never grows very high:) I would really like if I could put this everywhere. Has a nice color and doesn't grow very high.
