I have about 30 japonica camellias on the property here in middle Georgia. Most were planted in the '30s. Many classic varieties and a few bred by the previous owner. Until this year all bloomed between mid January and late February. This year about half bloomed at their regular time, several bloomed in late March and I have 8 specimens that are in full bloom now at the first of May. There is nothing obvious about the growing conditions of the early and late bloomers. Shade conditions have not changed and I have used the same fertilizing and pruning methods for the last 20 years.

Has anyone else noticed odd blooming times lately?
