Garden Flowers/Direct Sow Now?

I got a sort of late start on my garden this year due to some medical issues, so my normally lovely garden is looking pretty pathetic. Does anyone know of a nice, hearty wildflower that grows like gangbusters here in Georgia that would benefit my garden by attracting bees and just being pretty:-)??

One or two types that I can just direct sow and that would be okay to do now (May-getting hot!)...

Zinnias and sunflowers (see if you can find the smaller sunflowers not the one that produces a single giant head).

Thanks, Esh! I didn't know I could just direct sow zinnias. I have some seeds too-nice. Will look for 'single giant head sunflower' when I'm at the garden shop too. I've never grown them, but they are so fun looking.
