Thanks for this post. I'm in need of trees and not far from Gainesville. Just read some about Yellowood, sounds like a real possibility for my front yard. Would love to hear from anyone who has grown it.

I have always wanted one & decided against it because I thought the soil would be too acid, but have heard they grow well anyway in this area. They are stunning in bloom.

Highly reccomend the Yellowwood. I planted one 11 years ago and my only regret is that I did not plant it where I can see it from my house. It has smooth, mottled, gray bark, nice vase shaped branching, medium green compound leaves, and the flowers are beautiful. The person who sold it to me said I woul be lucky to see it bloom in my lifetime but it has bloomed most years. It was planTed in hard Georgia clay and has only grow to about 12 - 14 feet.
