I have seen those too. I haven't noticed them in the past,they appear by the hundreds when you disrupt their hiding place - gross!

I was looking for an ID on these guys a while back also. I found my way to http://www.whatsthatbug.com/index.html and found him. It is a Wheel Bug Nymph, a type of assassin bug. "The Wheel Bugs are advantageous in the garden as they have voracious appetites and will feed on many harmful insects, they will also bite the unwary human and the result is reportedly quite painful, though not serious." I love this website. It helps me ID all kinds of things. Hope this helps.

Here it is 5 am been looking up my new bug on the same website. Mine are wheel bug nymphs wow are they odd looking. Black legs and red body, like an ant but like a spider. Ick....I love that website too. So what to do with the bug? I heard it kills lady bugs too?

yours looks like a cricket, an above ground variety, the true assassian bug looks more like a tank, a triceratops like bug. check them out
