How would you get rid of it?

I've been a bad gardener and have let poison ivy overtake a beautiful bed of yellow daylilies. I had good intentions at the beginning of the season and really was going to kill every tiny sprig of the ivy I saw. But not being well and the weather has been so hot that I put off doing anything. So how would you gardeners save the daylilies and get rid of the ivy? I am terribly allergic to the stuff.

I would paint it out. I am not so allergic to it, but my DH is. We use old track pants with socks, longsleeve shirt, gloves and over the gloves a sock with the fingers cut out (and a thumb hole) to protect wrists. I use total kill mixed with a sticker like Dr. Bronners soap and paint it on the poison ivy leaf very carefully.

Thank you, girlgroupgirl. I really dread getting out in it- no matter how careful I am it gets on me. But every day it gets bigger and bigger so I'll have to start right away. Wish me luck.
