Hibiscus (Painted Lady) Safe to plant inground?

Lowe's had them on sale for $3 each!!! and they are healthy and budding/blooming, with lots of new growth. (BTW...I posted this on the hibiscus forum and so far no one has responded.

I have seen these in peoples landscaping, but the tags say different things, one for example says cold hardy to 20, the other 40 degrees. (or something similiar).

I can pot them up and put them in the greenhouse this winter, but IF they will be okay outside, I'd rather plant them (either in the ground or in LARGE pots that I'd rather not have to move in and out).

Hi, I bought some dwarf hibiscus (also on sale) I was advised to bring them in during the winter (I am in the Augusta area.) I used to live on St. Simons Island, and they did fine there. If you do put them in the ground, be sure to use lots of mulch and maybe cover them with burlap on the nights it freezes.
