I have several fixed planter boxes on my porch. I am about ready to clear the impatiens from them. I normally plant pansies for the winter. Any other suggestions for winter plants? The boxes get some afternoon sun. The containers are about 6 to 8" wide and about 10" deep.

I think ivy is a nice hardy addition to a flower box. It gives that "trailing down" look - and is pretty tough. Everything else I'm thinking about is sort of wimpy in a freeze.....

Parsley is a common companion for pansies and apparently is hardy. People are also using snapdragons more and more.
