Did you check Lowes at Edgewood? They also had quite a few fruit trees this summer.

mayland - i didn't check over there yet - last time i stopped into that store, the garden manager didn't even know what he had gotten for the year already, and wasn't very knowledgable about what he would be getting in stock. i will stop by this weekend though, just out of desperation :D

We were there this morning (buying more bark chip), and they did not have any fruit trees left. They are definitely not very knowledgeable there but they do sometimes get some surprisingly nice things in.

There is one man who was starting part-time at Lowes on Edgewood who is one of our customers where I work. He's knowledgable. Middle aged, thin with greying hair. Nice man, and knows a lot about ornamental plants.
