Plant Swap for Gardeners in AR, TN, MS, MO, KY Etc

I'm hosting my third Garden Party in Sept. We're thinking Sept 24 unless anyone has objections.

The party will be at my house in Jonesboro, Arkansas. I'm only one hour north of Memphis.

We plan to meet at my house, do some trading, go out to eat at my favorite pizza buffet place (pizza, pasta, bread, salad, and dessert for about $5--all you can eat).

Then we'll tour my best friend's gardens. Gail (GardenerGail) and I met right here on GW. She lives about 10 or 15 minutes from me. We recently installed a water garden at her place and she's just dying to show off. Let's give her the opportunity, shall we?

We'll also tour my neighbor Shirley's gardens which are on the Master Gardeners Tour of Gardens each year. She specializes in named daylilies, irises and louisiana irises, as well as other perennials. She also sells, so bring a little extra money if you think you might like to buy something. The tour, of course, is free. Shirley loves visitors.

We also have a Nature Center that was completed about a year ago. We can visit it too if you'd like. They have an "interactive" movie we can sit thru and a museum and gift shop as well as various hiking trails and gardens on the grounds.

Then we'll meet back at my place for more swapping and maybe some "plant poaching" from my gardens, if there's time. We swap anything we can--plants, seeds, books, birdhouses, windchimes, anything. Some of us will trade plants for bags of soil, mulch, big pretty rocks, crafts, jewelry, anything at all (whether garden related or not) that you think you can trade. And there are always plants left over that people beg you to take off their hands. So check around your place. Some of that stuff you might plan to put in a yard sale might just be something you could trade here for plants and seeds.

Feel free to bring whatever beverage you like. We'll have water and tea available here. You can bring snacks and cookies if you want. (Chocolate is always welcome!) But don't stress out over it. We're having lunch in town, so there's no need for a potluck and all the hassles of trying to decide who's bringing what. I'm trying to make this simple and easy for everyone.

I should have enough chairs, but if you have lawn chair you can easily bring along, that would be great. If not, don't worry abuot it. Just bring yourself, some friends, and something trade.

If you'd like to attend, please post here or email me for further information. Everyone is welcome and bring a friend.

Here's my website with a few pictures from my Spring swap which was a 3 day event.

RE: Plant Swap for Gardeners in AR, TN, MS, MO, KY Etc

If you are coming to my 3rd plant swap in Jonesboro, Arkansas (an hour from Memphis), please let me know which of these plants I need to save for you. I'm trying to get organized and get everyone's stuff potted and sorted so we can spend more time on visiting.

As hostess, I won't have time to dig up plants during the party, so if you want something, you need to tell me now. Some things I have in abundance and other things are in limited supply, so I will trade those only for special plants that I want.

I have the following plants for trade:

Crocosmias - orange-red (NOT Lucifer which is solid bright red) may even bloom this year for you

Tulip Poplar seedlings (may only be about 3 or 4 inches tall, but they grow FAST!)

Spearmint

Yellow Four Oclock tubers

Passiflora Incarnata - Passionflower (special)

Ornamental sweet potato vine - tricolor - cuttings (they root easily)

One white brugmansia plant, well rooted (special)

You can see pictures of some of these plants in my photo album at:

I also have three wicker basket plant stands about 30" tall I think.

And I have lots of big decorative pots for trade too.

I also have a large collection of music CDs (country, pop, rock, etc.) to trade. Ask me for a list if you're interested.

I would love to trade for named daylilies, cannas, and elephant ears primarily, and any other unusual plants. I am an avid plant collector and have many named daylilies, ee's, hostas and cannas, so I'm looking for something I don't already have. I would also consider your own daylily creations if you can show me pictures of them. I'm not looking for tropicals at this time other than ee's I don't have.

I will also trade for colorful gardening books, DVDs (romance, comedy, drama, psychological thriller, NO horror), big rocks, birdhouses, wooden bed frames (to make benches) and anything I can use in my house or in my gardens.

If you're coming to the party, please let me know what you'd like and what you have to offer. We only have a month til the party and I want to get things dug and potted and set aside for you ahead of time.

Hope to see you here!

NancyAnn

Wish I'd checked in here sooner. I'm in SE Missouri.

How'd the get together go? Sounds like it would have been really nice to go to.
