PERENNIAL PLANT SWAP & POT LUCK in KALAMAZOO

Dear Garden Friends,
It’s time for a Perennial Plant Swap in SW Michigan - so come one and come all - bring your extra plants, your dish to pass, tell your gardening friends and join in the fun! This is a wonderful chance to share your passion for gardening, meet other gardeners from the area, have a delicious meal and acquire some new plants. Please come with a happy and sharing heart. Bring photos of your gardens, flowers, etc. if you like! You may donate a plant or other garden item as a door prize if you would like to do that!
Happy Gardening! Rita

Date: Saturday, 6th September, 2003
Time: 11:00am - 2:00pm
Place: 3810 Robin Lane
Kalamazoo Michigan 49008

DIRECTIONS FROM I94.
Take the NORTH WESTNEDGE EXIT; go North on Westnedge to the THIRD stoplight (DENWAY) and turn Left on Denway, first right turn is on to DUKE; first left is on to PARKER, next left is on to ROBIN LANE - 3810 is third house on the right.

Trading materials: perennial plants, well rooted cuttings potted up, bulbs, garden ornaments/crafts. (PLEASE MARK ALL PLANT MATERIALS WITH THE PLANT NAME AND CARE REQUIRED)

Pot luck: Please bring a dish to pass, with serving untensils, and your own beverage, be sure to mark your serving spoons etc. with your name. Paper plates, napkins, cups & plastic silverware, provided.

This is the plan for the day:
11-12:00AM - people arrive, sign in with name and number of plants, get name tag, put plants in viewing/swap area, put out dish to pass, visit with other gardeners, start viewing plants.
Noon - have lunch
After lunch - Door prizes awarded
1:00 - Swap begins
After swap - more visiting, pack up, goodbyes.

This will be a Round Robin Swap. Round one - everyone select one plant. Round two - everyone select one plant. Round three - everyone select 2 plants and so on and so on. This way everyone gets a chance to get some of the plants they really have on eye on. This works well and people have been very pleased in the past at other swaps. Everyone should be able to take home as many plants as they bring.

Tips for the day: bring a folding chair (sometimes needed) and card table for your plants (or we can put them on the ground), a box or container to put your new plants in after swapping (label with your name) & bring and mark your serving utensils for your dish to pass.

PLEASE EMAIL with RSVP so we can get a head count.

This should be a FUN, informal day to share our love of gardening! Bring along your gardening friends so they too can share their extra perennials and acquire some more! Start potting up those plants and cuttings so they are nicely rooted and gorgeous! Please email with any questions.

HOPE YOU WILL JOIN US AT THE SWAP

Cheers - Rita

Rita-
You did a wonderful job. I enjoyed it so much. You set the bar really high for any other swap. This was my first swap ever and I think it will be hard to beat.

Hi Rita...sounds like your swap was GREAT!! I am thrilled for you and all your participants. These swaps can become "addictive" *giggle* & you'll keep on wanting to do them every year.

Glad it worked out so well.
