Geranium cutting?

HI! I am just wondering how late you can take cutting from a geranium and still get it to flower for the summer? Thanks for the help! (I mean the cuttings not the plant.)

RE: Geranium cutting?

Geraniums are really easy to start! I scrub up my pots and use fresh starter mix. There are little 'flaps' at the joints on the stems - they should be brown and papery. Cut just below a joint, as this is where the roots will start. I use a softwood rooting hormone, and put about an inch or so into the soil(pre-moistened), firm the soil around the stem and give it warmth and light. I usually take cuttings so as to give the mother plant a nice bushy shape. Right now is good, as you should start getting blooms in June.

Good luck, and remember that there is safely in numbers!!

Oops! I forgot to say - leave the cuttings for 24 hours, to dry the ends. This seems to really help!!

Thanks ntaylor finally some help! This sight isn't as active as others!! I read somewhere not to use rooting hormone but was trying to speed root development so I did! I usually do alot of cutting and do well with healthy plants. They are just "very slow to bloom" I hope the rooting hormone a little more heat and not to still be "snipping"in the middle of March will get me earlier blooms (also I have been a "poor" fertilizer. Thanks again
