CRANESBILL have you had luck with bareroots

I'm looking at a site that has a good selection of bareroots. Last year I ordered some, planted, and they died. I got a refund but still love their selection.
Does anyone have advice or good/bad experiences with planting the BR's, and when should they be planted for my zone 7b?
Thank you!

| The problem with bare root perennials is they can dry out too much and die. The must be kept moist at all times |

| I have had the best success with mail-order plants when they are sent in small pots or at least with a "ball" of soil firmly around the the roots. This moist "rootball" is then wrapped in newspaper or saran wrap for shipping. Shipping costs may be a bit more than bare root, but if the plants die, you are no further ahead, just disappointed and frustrated. |
